Many people notice when they are able to let go and cleanse the colon of the toxic material, they are then motivated to make positive changes in their lives.
Colon cleansing, also called colonic hydrotherapy and colonic irrigation, is promoted for digestive issues such as bloating, colitis, constipation and indigestion. It is also touted for completely unrelated problems that include arthritis, alcoholism, allergies, lethargy, asthma and skin conditions. This is a gentle therapy that introduces warm filtered water into the rectum to eliminate feces from the large intestine, stimulating intestinal contractions, and hydrating the body. Practiced since Ancient times, many people utilize colon hydrotherapy for general wellbeing and as part of a healthy lifestyle.
The “gut” brings nutrients into the body and eliminates waste, but it is far more than just a digestive system. It is the most active immunological location in the body, producing systemic enzymes and the bulk of our neurotransmitters, and maintaining the “soil” of our internal environment. The alimentary canal not only nourishes us, but also defends us, heals us, and affects our moods. With more neurons than in our brain, and 10 times more bacteria than cells in our body, the “gut” is the center of our physical universe.
Colon cleansing involves flushing the colon with large volumes of fluid. Patients who can benefit from colon cleansing have severe constipation resistant to laxative use. Irrigating and evacuating stool from the colon can bring these people immediate relief.
A trained professional performs the procedure in the medical facility under a physician’s direction. The use of disposable equipment and meticulous disinfection every time avoids bacterial contamination.
During a 45 minute colon cleansing, you can expect:
Step 1. A brief rectal exam.
Step 2. A speculum will be introduced 1.5 inches into the rectum. An inlet and outlet tube is then attached to the outside of the speculum. The procedure has a closed system so there is no odor.
Step 3. Afterwards, the influx of carefully controlled amounts of filtered water — about 60 liters — is introduced.
Step 4. Gentle abdominal massaging is started to help remove waste and gas pockets.
No, this treatment uses a gentle slow method to introduce warm water into the colon. The rectal speculum is lubricated, so that there is no pain or discomfort. A breathing exercise further allows the client to relax. If you have internal hemorrhoids, you will need to address it with your PCP before considering colonic irrigation, as this condition may cause pain upon insertion. Internal hemorrhoids present as a sensation of fullness or discomfort in the rectum, bleeding and pain when having a bowel movement.
Stop eating and drinking 2 hours before. This allows time for your digestive system to relax and release. Avoid dairy, wheat, and meat. Eat foods rich in fiber, such as vegetables and legumes. Ideally, it is best to follow a plant-based diet a few days leading up to your session.
Most likely you will feel great!!! You will feel lighter and enjoy a sense of well-being, clarity and mental alertness. Any activity you would normally do such as work or exercise is fine. For some, the colonic may trigger several subsequent bowel movements for the next few hours; but there usually is not any uncontrollable urgency or discomfort. We give you a lot of time in the wellness center to release in the bathroom before driving home. Gas, after your session is normal. There is a possibility of residual water & waste, it is important to pass gas in the toilet.
People with certain medical conditions should NOT undergo colon hydrotherapy unless given approval from and/or by prescription from their physician. These conditions include the following:
